Grants

Was is promoted?

Research and development projects aimed at new products, processes, procedures, services, business models, data-based services and service platforms across all sectors.

The program is designed for technology-specific and technology-open calls for proposals. The thematic focus of the current call (e.g. Green Tech) is explained in the irregularly published calls for funding.

The projects must be geared towards opening up new market areas, increasing productivity and the competitiveness and innovative strength of the companies.

Who can apply for funding?

Companies with a registered office, branch or permanent establishment in Baden-Württemberg are eligible to apply.

Individual projects and joint projects can be carried out.

In the case of collaborative projects, the university or research institution must also be based in Baden-Württemberg. The project may only begin after approval has been granted.

How is the funding provided?

Funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant. The funding rate varies depending on the size of the company:

  • Small companies receive 45 %,
  • Medium-sized companies receive 35 %,
  • Companies with less than 3,000 employees receive 25%
  • Companies with 3,000 or more employees receive 15

Research institutions receive funding of up to 100% of eligible expenditure.

Grants of between EUR 20,000 and EUR 1,000,000 (for individual projects) or EUR 3,000,000 (for collaborative projects) can be awarded.

As a rule, projects should not exceed a duration of 24 months from the date of approval.

Important to know!

Applications are submitted in accordance with the cut-off date principle in the relevant call for proposals.

Companies that have already received innovation funding under Invest BW in the past twelve months are not eligible to apply. The date of the last approval is decisive in each case.
