Support program

Federal subsidy for efficient buildings (BEG) refurbishment (BEG NWG)

Repayment subsidies Promotional loan

What is supported?

Funding is available for all energy-related measures that lead to an efficiency building level of 70 or better. This also includes the costs of eligible surrounding measures. The refurbishment of listed buildings is also eligible for funding. In the case of a newly renovated property, the energy refurbishment measures are subsidized if the costs are shown separately. The necessary specialist planning and construction supervision by energy efficiency experts and specialist acoustic planning are also eligible for funding.

How is the funding provided?

Funding is provided as a promotional loan with a repayment subsidy from KfW and amounts to between 5% and 25% of the eligible costs for the refurbishment of non-residential buildings to an efficiency house (depending on the efficiency class). For the refurbishment of a "Worst Performing Building" (WPB), the applicant receives an additional repayment subsidy of 10%.

Municipalities can receive a grant of up to 40% or 50% (incl. WPB funding).

Who can apply for funding?

Applications may be submitted by private individuals and sole proprietorships, freelancers, domestic and foreign
Companies in the commercial sector that are majority privately owned, municipal companies, non-profit organizations and churches, commercial banks, cooperative banks and savings banks as well as contracting providers that provide energy services for non-residential buildings.

Important to know!

The prerequisite for the subsidy is that the building application or the building notification for the building was submitted at least 5 years ago at the time of the application.

The WPB bonus can be combined with the renewable energy class (EE class), the sustainability class (NH class) and the bonus for serial refurbishment.
